Nights Like Tonight

Tonight was so dysfunctional it's not even funny.
I worked this morning and then came home, put on pajamas, snuggled into my favorite chair with my Slytherin blankie and Vabear, ready to relax at home for the night. That was my plan.
Taylor had other plans. She called me at about 5 o'clock, telling me she was outside my house and that she was kidnapping me to go see Men In Black 3 with her and a bunch of other nerfers. She had no idea what the plan actually was, where we were meeting anyone, when the movie was or anything. It was so poorly put together. It didn't help when the boys refused to answer their phones. Eventually we all got in one place, had some food and wandered the mall for a little bit. We almost left the only high schooler in our midst at the cat store, and we made fun of him for it all night. Taylor almost killed us twice on the ride from the mall to the movie theater and we all walked in just as the movie was starting. We were one of three groups of people in the theater.
There was a very loud "family" car ride to Denny's where the seven of us all ordered chocolate milk, had a discussion about bras and bra shopping, and made a lot of jokes from that movie.
It was just, a really good time with mostly a bunch of people I don't usually get to hang out with. Having fun, making jokes, and not really worrying about anything. It broke my routine of being with my family all the time, work and hanging out with like one or two other people, trying to find something to talk about and do. There was never a dull moment, and all of it was just silliness. It was the exact kind of night I needed to get me out of the funk I've been sliding into. I had so much fun and laughed so much.
Yeah, the movie was just okay. It was enjoyable enough, really predictable, and definitely didn't live up to the other two, but that's not what tonight was really about. It was about seeing people I missed and the memories that we'll all have of tonight for ever, the perfect summer night spent with friends. And I'm probably going to catch hell for just up and leaving but that doesn't matter. I enjoyed tonight so much, and I will always remember my college friends driving in on a Monday night, all the dysfunction and hilarity that ensued, and this feeling that I was part of something so great tonight. And yes, it's made me a little home sick for school, but if anything tonight probably helped me feel okay with being home (which has been pretty great so far too). Nights like tonight are the sign of a great summer to come :)
